| NEKOTEMORI This is the homepage of Naomi Shofu, a Kirie (paper cutout) artist. Cats have been used as a motif in most of her work. The process of Kirie involves starting with a single sheet of paper, cutting away unwanted parts of paper, revealing an intricate impression. Compared to other art forms, such as painting and pottery, there are a variety of restrictions with this form of artwork, since once paper has been cut there is no turning back. However, it is the sharp clear lines of Kirie that continue to fascinate her and inspire creativity as an artist. |
